Matt Miquelon: Director of Product Development

Matt Miquelon

Meet Matt Miquelon, Director of Product Development here at ParentSquare!

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That’s easy. I am from Kansas City, Missouri (the BBQ capital of the world), so that has to be Arthur Bryant’s Barbecue and specifically, their smoked beef brisket!

What teacher impacted you the most? Why?

Although I have been fortunate with teachers who took an active interest in my education over the years, the prize winner is my college photography professor and mentor. I learned so many valuable lessons from him and still do, we’re great friends to this day!

Would you rather explore a new planet or the deepest part of the ocean? Why?

Planetary for sure. “Space. The final frontier.” Going somewhere nobody has visited is still possible in the depths of the ocean, but space…I mean, wow. That would be a special opportunity.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go & why?

I still have a ton of places to visit on my bucket list (Bora Bora and Barcelona I’m looking at you!) but the top 1 is the St. Pierre Miquelon Islands off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. These 2 small islands are the last remaining French territory outside of France and the origin of my paternal family, which we’ve traced back to 1640. It’s a fun little island, from what I have read, with great food and only a ferry ride away from the Canadian mainland. They also have a daily non-stop…to Paris! Viva la Miq!

Do you have any pets?

“Olive” our adopted kitty!

What is the nerdiest thing you do in your free time?

I am big into Smart Home automation and my wife just shakes her head when I add something else to the mix.

If you could time travel, where would you go & why?

Tough choice between the past (since I am a history buff) or the future (because I am a technologist), but if in the past, it would be the late 1920s and the Jazz Age. I hail from Kansas City, Missouri, one of the birthplaces of Jazz, and it was known as the “Paris of the Plains” at that time. It would be fascinating to visit!

In what ways are you the same as your childhood self?

Curious and empathetic.

If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be?

That would be Salvador Dali, the surrealist artist and painter.

Favorite quote?

“Success has many “fathers”, failure has none.” A great quote attributed to JFK about accountability and ownership!

What do you like most about working for ParentSquare?

The team and the culture. A culture of honesty, customer empathy, transparency, and shared success. Truly an amazing team and I am very fortunate to be part of it.

Matt has been at ParentSquare since March 1, 2020.
