6 EdTech Trends Worth Keeping Post-Pandemic

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, schools faced a variety of challenges and had to adapt in many ways. Out of these challenges, many schools found silver linings, such as the implementation of new technologies to support learning and school communities.

In a recent SmartBrief article, ParentSquare customer Jason Borgen—Chief Technology Officer at Santa Cruz County Office of Education—discusses how his district witnessed significant advances on the communications front as its schools turned to technology to help create stronger, more meaningful connections with their school communities.

“Now that districts are shifting back to hybrid and in-person learning, what technology practices will remain for the long haul?” questioned Borgen in the article. Here are six edtech trends Borgen thinks are worth keeping:

  1. Distributing devices and hot spots to students

  2. Offering virtual meetings for parents and families

  3. Giving families a remote learning option

  4. Accelerating technology adoption

  5. Increasing cybersecurity

  6. Using data to drive decisions

“Tech leaders are examining what they’ve learned over the last 15 months and holding on to the positive components,” says Borgen. “With varying learning scenarios, that means using equitable technology that meets parents where they are and allows them to receive communications when and how they want.”
